Which direction to pick?

If the text runs sideways with the top of the page facing left, rotate 90° clockwise to fix it. If the top faces right, rotate 90° counter-clockwise. Picking the wrong one of those two turns a sideways page into an upside-down one instead of fixing it — if that happens, just run the tool again with 180° to correct it.

Not every rotation applies the same way

This tool rotates every page by the same fixed amount — it can't fix a duplex scan where only the even (or odd) pages came out upside-down, and it can't tell a genuinely landscape chart or table from an actual sideways scanning error. If only some pages need rotating, use the PDF Workspace to rotate individual files before merging.

Why this happens so often

Rotation errors are almost always a scanning artifact, not something anyone did on purpose. Automatic document feeders read page orientation from sensor data, and get it wrong more often than you'd expect — especially on pages with headers, footers, or mixed layouts that confuse the auto-detection. A page photographed with a phone inherits whatever angle the phone happened to be at, and PDF converters don't always respect the camera's own orientation data. Multi-page originals with a mix of portrait text pages and landscape tables or charts often come out of a scanner with inconsistent rotation across the batch.

Rotate PDF FAQs

How do I know which rotation direction to pick?

If the top of the content faces left, rotate 90° clockwise. If the top faces right, rotate 90° counter-clockwise. If it's genuinely upside-down (readable but flipped), use 180°.

Can I rotate only some pages, like alternating pages from a duplex scan?

Not on this page — every page rotates by the same amount. Rotating only even or odd pages isn't currently supported.

My chart or table is sideways on purpose — will this tool mess it up?

This tool rotates every page uniformly, so it can't tell an intentionally landscape page from a scanning error. Only use it when every page in the file genuinely needs the same fix.

Will rotating affect quality?

No — rotation just changes the page orientation metadata; nothing is re-rendered or compressed.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Not yet. Unlock it first, then upload it here.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No — everything runs in your browser using JavaScript.

Why do scanners get page orientation wrong so often?

Automatic document feeders guess orientation from sensor data or text-direction detection, and both methods fail more often on pages with headers, footers, tables, or mixed layouts than on plain text pages.
