Splitting…
Your files are ready.
Use "Every N pages" when you want equal-sized chunks — chapters from a long report, or a batch scan divided into fixed-size pieces. Use "Custom ranges" when you already know exactly which pages belong together, like "1-3; 4-6; 9" for 3 specific files. Each output downloads separately.

When splitting a PDF actually comes up
A few real situations where dividing a PDF into multiple files solves an actual problem: a legal discovery bundle arrives as one file with hundreds of pages, and it needs to become separate exhibits before anyone can reference them individually. A 100-page quarterly report needs to become ten 10-page monthly sections for different reviewers. An email attachment limit (Gmail caps at 25MB) means a large PDF has to become smaller pieces before it can be sent at all. A scanned multi-chapter textbook needs to become one file per chapter for a course reading list.
The common thread: the end goal is several independent files, each useful on its own — not one trimmed-down file with everything still together, which is what Extract is for instead.

Split PDF FAQs
What's the difference between Split and Extract pages?
Split divides a PDF into multiple separate files. Extract pulls selected pages into a single new file, leaving the rest out entirely. Use whichever matches what you actually need.
Can I download all the split files as one ZIP?
Not yet — each file downloads individually. Batch ZIP download is a planned addition.
What happens with "Every N pages" if the total doesn't divide evenly?
The last file simply gets whatever pages are left over — e.g. splitting a 7-page PDF into groups of 3 gives you files of 3, 3, and 1 page.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No — everything runs in your browser using JavaScript.
Can splitting help if my file is too big to email?
Yes — this is one of the most common reasons people split a PDF. Gmail, for example, caps attachments at 25MB. Splitting a large file into smaller pieces gets each one under that limit.
Can I split a bundle of scanned documents into individual files by document, not just by page count?
Only if you already know which page ranges belong to which document — use Custom ranges mode with one range per document. This tool doesn't automatically detect document boundaries within a scanned bundle.
