Quick answer

Use this tool when you need a shareable PDF copy of a Word document. Complex Word layouts can render differently, so DocVelora shows a formatting note instead of promising perfect fidelity.

How it works

Convert Word to PDF in three steps

1

Upload DOCX

Choose the Word document you want to convert.

2

Convert

DocVelora creates a PDF using the configured document renderer.

3

Download

Save the PDF or continue with a supported PDF tool.

Formatting

Headers, paragraphs, common tables, images and standard fonts convert reliably. Floating elements, SmartArt or unusual Word features may render differently from Microsoft Word.

Privacy

Your DOCX is uploaded only to convert it to PDF. The source file is deleted the instant conversion finishes, and the PDF is deleted after download or after a short retention window.

Formatting note This converter uses PHPWord with an HTML-based PDF renderer — not Microsoft Word's own rendering engine. Simple documents (text, headings, standard tables, inline images) convert well. Complex layouts should be checked page-by-page after conversion. Most online converters claim "100% formatting preservation" without qualification; we'd rather tell you what to actually check than have you find out after you've already sent the file.
Known issue: bulleted and numbered lists lose their markers We found this during testing, not after a user reported it: a paragraph styled as a bulleted or numbered list in Word converts with the text intact but without the bullet or number in front of it. This affects resumes, reports, and any document using Word's built-in list styles. A workaround until this is fixed: type the bullet or number manually as part of the text (e.g. "• Led migration..." or "1. First item") instead of relying on Word's list formatting.

Word to PDF FAQs

Will my Word formatting stay exactly the same?

Standard text, headings, tables and images convert reliably. Complex layouts, floating objects or unusual fonts may shift slightly — always review the converted PDF before sending it.

Can I convert an old .DOC file?

Not yet. Launch supports DOCX only; legacy .DOC support is being tested separately.

How long are files stored?

The source DOCX is deleted immediately after conversion. The output PDF is deleted as soon as you download it, or automatically after a short retention window.

Can I convert from a phone?

Yes — this page works on mobile browsers as well as desktop.

Why do some tools claim "100% perfect formatting" and this one doesn't?

Because it usually isn't true for every document. No web-based converter — this one included — uses Microsoft Word's actual layout engine, so claiming perfect fidelity for every file is a marketing line, not a technical guarantee. We tested this converter against real documents (including one genuine bug we found and fixed, detailed in the formatting guide) and would rather show you what that testing found than promise something we haven't verified.

Why did my bullet points or numbered list lose their markers?

This is a known issue with the current converter — list text converts correctly, but the bullet or number in front of it doesn't carry over. Until it's fixed, typing the bullet or number as plain text works as a reliable workaround.
